I am Davy Thomas the former Head of the Social Sciences Department at Munro College, Jamaica with more than (10) ten years of experience teaching Geography and Caribbean Studies up to the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advance Proficiency Examination (CAPE) level. Additionally, I have worked with the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) as an Assistant Examiner for over (5) five years. My passion for Geography and teaching led me to successfully complete my Bachelors for Geography Degree from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica and my teaching Diploma from City & Guilds, London, England. I also hold Advance Technical Certificates in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Instructional Technology from Broward College, Florida, USA. Now living in Florida having migrated from Jamaica, my passion for teaching and passing on my knowledge to students continues to burn bright and I strongly believe in the mantra, “once a teacher always a teacher”. With my Caribbean heritage and now working and residing in Miami, Florida, which is a melting pot of cultures. I was afforded the opportunity to work with a diverse set of students from different ethnicity and culture, a challenge I readily accepted. I strongly believe that no single approach to teaching and learning is the right one for every student, so I have tailored my lessons and adopted and implemented a range of teaching strategies in order to get the best out of my students. While, I am not in the classroom I enjoy coaching youth soccer, working with student athletes and engaging in health and fitness activities, as I rely on “balancing a strong mind with a strong body”.
